The White Room
You wake up in a room, alone and scared. A voice cracks over the intercom, a man named "Steve" introduces himself. Such a banal name for your captor. Figure out how to get out of this nightmare, or be lost to the darkness forever. Note: This is the story that also serves as a demo on the Storyfall landing page.
You wake up alone in a room. You try to move, but find yourself tied to a chair, your arms starting to go numb. How long have you been here? You try to open and focus your eyes. The pristine white of the room reminds you of a hospital, with glossy floors and perfectly sanitary walls. In front of you are two doors, almost identical, except for some markings on the front. One has a semi-circle, reminiscent of a moon, and another has a skull. A voice crackles from somewhere overhead. "Test... can you hear me?" Your visible shudder must have acted as confirmation, and the voice continues, "Hello, this is Steve. I know what you might be thinking. What am I doing in this room? All alone, tied to a chair? How did I get here? How do I get out?" Steve chuckles a little and then continues. "Here's the thing, {playerName}. The only way you're going to find out is by picking one of those doors. But! Pick the wrong one, and you DIE... have fun!" The speakers emit a high pitched whine as Steve's voice disappears, and you're left pondering how you got here. Suddenly, the shackles…
